The Augustow Canal (Poland - Belarus) 1 day

Through The Augustow Canal to Belarus

The Augustow Canal – is a precious masterpiece of water construction, unique on the European scale, dating from the first half of the 19th century. This waterway was constructed to link the Vistula with the Neman and with the Baltic Sea through the Neman River. The Canal's combined length from Dębowo Lock on the Biebrza to Niemnowo Lock in Belarus is 101,2 km, out of which 20 km are on the Belorussian side. There are 18 locks along the way, of which 14 are in Poland. Running through the beautiful Augustow Forest, the canal links all larger Augustow lakes, creating an attractive waterway for kayakers and pleasure boat cruises. It is expected to be placed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list soon.

Seating in a double tourist kayak with the equipment (paddle, life-jacket, soft seat).

Additional information

Participation in the trip should be registered earlier (by phone or e-mail).
In the event of too few participants, the trip may be cancelled 10 days before the scheduled date.
In order to get visa the passport should be passed 3 weeks before the trip.
The customs clearance takes place in Kurzyniec Lock.
Picking up the participants from the town and surrounding areas.
Free car parking in Augustów.
There are not snack-bar on the route.
You should take: passport, refreshments and packed lunch, sun-hat, light hiking shoes, fingerless gloves, warm clothes, raincoat and, of course, good mood!!

Visa - 10 euros/person (necessary documents available at the office)
Hire of professional waterproof kayak bag - 3 zł/day or purchase – 85 zł.
Additional payment fot SZOT SINGLE kayak – 10 zł.
It is possible to increase the amount of insurance.
You can buy maps of kayaking routes, waterproof mobile phone pouch, gloves, raincoats at the office.

It is here that the most interesting kayaking routes of Poland begin or end, and there are ideal conditions for hiking and cycling. Augustow is also close to the border with Lithuania (50 km) and Belarus (45 km).
